A Firefox power user managed to keep 7,500 tabs open for two years

Navigating multiple tabs at once is no small challenge. Some can only manage two or three before becoming too overwhelming for them to deal with; but one Firefox power user, Hazel (Twitter user name), set an extraordinary record by keeping 7,500 tabs open for two years -- drawing plenty of criticism for her attempt due to concerns about memory efficiency on her laptop.

Good news was, she eventually did give up and close all of the tabs without needing to restart her computer; rather, only 70MB of RAM was consumed by all the browser tabs at one time! And even better news? she told PCMag she managed to recover them all so she can resume web research as needed at any time in future.

To manage their Firefox tabs more granularly, there is a simple extension available that gives more granular control of tab behavior. Tab Groups adds an icon for group creation to the toolbar, enabling you to create and move individual tabs between groups as desired. FoxyTab provides even more actions such as sorting, merging and duplicating windows as well as the capability of viewing different layouts or styles in Tab Workspaces.
